“Even though a person is born again through the Spirit of God, he must understand he still possesses the old nature with its desires that war with the new nature and the desires that come from the Spirit. From a practical standpoint, the Christian [must] purposely avoid feeding the old, fleshly nature and instead practice new behaviors that are driven by the Spirit: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”(Galatians 5:16) “… put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.”(Romans 13:14)” May we allow the Holy Spirit to help us live above the lusts of our flesh. May we drop all pretense but rather obey His leading one step at a time as He takes us on this journey of “de-fleshing”. Finally, may we come to realize how it is worth all the pain it takes to continuously obey the Holy Spirit till we depart into eternity. God bless you richly.
